Object: NGC 2903
Location: Columbus Dark Site
Seeing and Transparency: Seeing was great, Transparency was ok and declining.
Telescope: Zhumell Z12 12″ Dob
Log: Observed with Tele Vue Ethos 13mm, 115x. Bright, but rather featureless. I don’t know what I expected, but I was hoping it would look a little cooler (having developed an interest in it after Kelly gave me the poster with it in several different wavelenths and data representations). I got excited after seeing another smudge that was not plotted on the Pocket Sky Atlas, and it was at that point I discovered I forgot to bring my observing bag, which had my SkyAtlas 2000 in it! It turns out the other galaxy was NGC 2916! Here are my notes (graciously written down by mom as I was at the eyepiece): half size, 1/2 degree away NNE”. It was difficult to determine direction as NGC 2903 was located directly at the zenith. –(Log same as NGC 2916)
