Project Description

T-Shirt Design for the HAS Outreach Team

I created this t-shirt design over the course of two days in late 2019. The HAS outreach team (of which I was a member) was in need of t-shirts, and their preliminarily chosen design (a solar system model) was not to my tastes—as a galaxy girl, I thought that it would be a shame to have a shirt with only a single star on it! So I whipped this design up in Adobe Illustrator, and proposed it as an alternative. My design was selected, and at least one copy was printed, but when the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to outreach activities, further t-shirt printing was put on hold.

This design was inspired by a treasured old t-shirt which my mom gifted to me: the McDonald Observatory version of Harrell Graham’s 1981 “You Are Here” design. Here’s a photo of that shirt.
